GLOBETROTTERS
We travel, take holidays, slip away for city breaks, slide off to ski, submerge to be goggled at by fishes, skip off energetically to loll about somewhere else. We explore cultures of others, are interested in their religions, art and architecture, how they live, what they eat, how they think and what shapes their existences.
We are folk who cannot wait to be away. Part of the enjoyment of travel is to share the experience. That is what we hope to do in Globetrotters: meet, exchange information, good and bad, give hints and help to others, guiding those who wish, or generally showing off some of the photographs, objects, literature etc., which we have gathered along the way.
At present we anticipate meeting on the second Friday of the month in alternate months at 4.00 p.m. for a couple of hours. Some members (and non-members) may talk for five, ten or twenty minutes on a destination, or a topic related to travel. Members will put forward their future travel plans, especially if seeking a little help on how to derive most benefit from their time away.
We will place notices of meetings on the website in the normal way. Members will compile a register of places they have visited, so that other members may draw on their knowledge. We may also record and pass round items of information which may be of use or interest.
