This group promotes an appreciation of horses through attendance at horse shows, group riding through commercial stables and informal education on aspects of horse handling.  We do not teach riding but can point members towards stables that do. 

In addition, we volunteer with “Riding for the Disabled” at the Overland Therapeutic Equestrian Centre in Peratallada.  This involves helping handicapped adults and children to experience riding horses, grooming and riding in a safe and controlled environment, leading to both physical and emotional benefits.  This is an important activity within the Group and all members are expected to participate as their personal time allows.  Full supervision and instruction is given to volunteers by English speaking professionals – no experience with horses or familiarity in working with the handicapped is required.  Therapy sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

IDEALLY, FOUR VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED FOR EACH SESSION.

All meetings are held at Overland, Peratallada.
